Hello, Walk ND! My name is Angela and I have been a fitness instructor for Rec Sports for ten years. This summer, I am taking some time off for an exciting adventure. While you are walking along the beaches in Michigan, I will be walking the Camino de Santiago! Translated: the Camino de Santiago is “The Way of St. James” and is a pilgrimage to Santiago. There are many routes to complete this pilgrimage, but my friend and I are taking the most popular route which runs across the northern part of Spain. We will start at the border of Spain and France, in a town called Roncesvalles, and walk some 765 km (about 475 miles) over thirty days before arriving in Santiago. People complete this route for a number of reasons, some religious, some for the challenge, and some for a vacation (I never thought of a vacation that would include walking over 400 miles, but that is what I am doing for my summer vacation!).
Rec Sports has invited me to share some of my experiences with you as we travel through Spain, so I am excited to be an honorary member of Walk ND for the summer! Look for updates and pictures as we walk. Thanks for this opportunity and keep walking, ND!
