Faced with budget cuts, grade schools often choose the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) over fine arts. Jay Brockman, associate dean of engineering and professor in the College of Engineering, says that STEM and the fine arts are a lot more integrated than some people may think. Currently, he is leading a project that incorporates the two disciplines.
