This list was kindly compiled by a student assistant on XXXXX. Check hotels.com, etc. for additional options and rates as they can vary (and might be cheaper elsewhere).  The Morris Inn is most convenient; St. Joseph’s Hall is cheapest, though rooms are limited and “cozy.”  We have many other hotels nearby.  Contact Connie cmick@nd.edu if you want input on options.  Book quickly–summer gets busy around here!

AIRPORTS — South Bend is EST (same time as Chicago in May)

  • South Bend (SBN)— Transportation options from airport to hotel available at FlySBN.
  • Midway, Chicago (MDW)— About 1.5 hours to South Bend by car if traffic cooperates.
  • O’Hare, Chicago (ORD)–About 2.5-3 hours to South Bend by car if traffic cooperates.

RAIL

South Shore Rail from O’Hare and Midway to South Bend airport takes a few hours–much longer than driving but fairly inexpensive.  You’d need transportation from the South Bend airport to your hotel.

PARKING & MAP

Parking on Campus: Miserable!  Sorry–lots of construction.  If you stay at the Morris Inn, the Fairfield Inn, or probably Sacred Heart as well, you’ll be within a moderate walking distance.  If not, you’ll need to drive and park.  If you need a nearby accessible parking space, please contact Campus Security directly (574-631-5555) and they will assist you with options.  Otherwise, here is an interactive campus map with Geddes Hall, our home base, and visitors’ parking lots marked.  Prepare to walk, even if you drive!

TOURIST INFORMATION

Come early and/or stay late to explore “Michiana,” the Indiana/Michigan region that includes South Bend, Mishawaka, and other great cities.  You can hit the dunes on the shores of Lake Michigan, eat and shop in the Amish country of Shipshewana, or ride the rapids on the East Race in downtown South Bend.  Here’s one website with a calendar of events and opportunities: https://visitsouthbend.com/
